The Problem:

A Man Without Purpose

%

Increased risk of depression

Increased risk of early death

%

Increased use of pornography

%

Of suicidal men feel hopeless

Without a life-giving purpose, men of all ages are at risk of becoming a statistic.

Contributing Factors:

01

Culture

Today, culture is influencing every aspect of a man’s life.  From the clothes he wears, the things he says, his views on life, and his beliefs about being a man.  Most importantly, the younger the man, the more influenced he is by cultural pressures.

02

Connection

Neither boys nor men are getting adequate leadership from older, more wiser men.  This void forces them to interpret how a good and responsible man deals with the everyday challenges of life. Without the counsel of godly men, he will gravitate toward selfish and unhealthy behaviors.

03

Cultivation

God did not design men to perform mindless labor.  The term “Cultivate” means to make something better by using your creativity, intelligence, perseverance, and potentially, strength.   The US educational system is failing our boys by not cultivating their unique skills.

04

Calling

A man’s calling forms the bedrock of his self-worth, but societal expectations often push a man down predefined paths.  By neglecting their God-given strengths, weaknesses, and passions, they will not discover their true calling, and ultimately, their purpose. Taking the time to reflect and understand these vital aspects will empower a man to build a fulfilling life aligned with his unique identity and potential.

A Different Solution

Instead of tuning into yet another self-help podcast promising the keys to wealth and a worry-free existence, consider embracing the following three strategies as the foundation for transforming your perspective on your life,  your identity, and purpose. By taking this pivotal step, you won’t merely shape your own destiny but also leave an indelible mark on the lives of those you encounter, much like an experienced builder constructing a future filled with purpose and fulfillment.

#1 Build Your Faith

First, A man must make the decision to follow Jesus and then be very intentional in building his relationship.  To succeed he will need to change his priorities, question his motives, and begin the process of surrendering his life.

Can You Hear Him Calling?

Have you ever felt the presence of something or someone in your life?  It’s a feeling that your every move, thought, and decision is being monitored. Like a watchful father, someone who loves you deeply and wants the very best for you, but is also quick to let you know when and where you’re falling short of your potential.
Here I am! I stand at your door and know.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.  Revelation 3:20

#2 Build Your Purpose

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Romans 8:28

His Purpose or Mine?

Whether building a business, an airplane, or pursuing any dream  – A man must intentionally step into new activities that push him beyond his comfort zone where the risk of failure far exceeds the potential for success.  In these endeavors, he learns of his strengths, weaknesses, and most importantly, his need to prioritize Jesus Christ in his life.

#3 Build Your Legacy

Men often fail to recognize that they are continuously building their legacy, and even if they do, they may prioritize amassing wealth and/or recognition. However, one’s legacy is not determined by their financial status, but rather by the impact they have on others’ lives.

Build a Christ-Centered Purpose

Seeking God first means making Him your top priority.  This one decision will produce meaning and direction for your life.  Others in your life will also be positively impacted by your decision.
Your life events, both good and bad paint a picture for others to better understand the significance of their own lives through your life.  A nurturing touch, a kind word, a laugh, or a hug can change another’s life in countless ways.
