The engine I’m installing on the Rans20 is the Rotax 912is. This engine has a number of different components that will either require firewall mounting or somewhere else in the engine compartment. The components include the fuse box, Electronic Control Unit, oil can, and fuel pump. I have contacted Rans for suggestions based on the number of Rotax 915 engines they have installed and waiting for pictures.

Based on research to date, Rans has installed the fuel pump under the pilot’s seat but without the Rotax housing. According to the Rotax manual, the housing is designed to reduce the risk of fire, so I’m not going to remove it. I suspect the reason why Rans is removing the housing is to reduce weight. It’s made of stainless steel and probably weighs several pounds.
